Prices as of Oct 2026

Laminate is the lowest-cost way to get a wood look in a dry room, but quotes in India vary a lot for what looks like the same plank. This guide gives the market ranges we found in October 2026 from Indian retailer listings and price guides, explains what moves the price, and shows how to compare quotes line by line. These are market ranges, not our prices — each Vantafloor product page shows our own price, or says “Price on request”.

Laminate material price by grade

Material only, ₹ per sq ft, excluding GST (Oct 2026)
Grade Typical range Notes
7–8 mm, AC3, budget or unbranded ₹60–110 Marketplace listings mostly ₹55–95; guides start at about ₹80
8 mm, AC4, Indian brand ₹90–150 Listings ₹110–135; guides put AC4 at ₹120–200
8–10 mm, AC4, mid-range ₹120–200 Price guides; we found few listings to cross-check
12 mm, AC4–AC5 ₹110–250 Listings scatter widely (₹60–150); guides put AC5 at ₹180–250
Herringbone / chevron laminate ₹90–250 Plus 12–18% extra material for cutting

Two cautions. Marketplace listings rarely say whether GST is included, so ask. And imported European laminate is usually priced above these bands — we could not find a current published Indian price for a specific European product, so get it quoted in writing rather than relying on an online figure.

Installation and the extras

Typical ranges, excluding GST (Oct 2026)
Item Typical range
Laying labour, straight click (floating) ₹18–50 per sq ft
Laying labour, herringbone about 1.5–2× straight laying
Foam underlay (if the plank has none attached) ₹15–40 per sq ft
Skirting / beading, supplied ₹20–60 per running ft
Skirting fixing ₹15–35 per running ft
Levelling an uneven base, if needed ₹15–40 per sq ft

Material-only vs installed price

A material price per sq ft is only part of the bill. Supplied and installed — planks, underlay, skirting and labour — a budget-to-mid laminate floor came out at roughly ₹100–220 per sq ft in the rate analyses we checked, and an AC4 floor with underlay and skirting at about ₹180–300 per sq ft, both before GST. Some guides quote installed laminate up to about ₹380, so the spread is real: two honest quotes can differ by more than you expect because of brand, thickness, city and how much preparation the room needs.

Cutting waste is part of the material: about 5–8% for straight planks, more for diagonal and herringbone layouts. Our flooring calculator adds the wastage for your pattern and rounds up to full boxes; how to calculate flooring explains the maths.

GST on laminate: 18%

Laminate on an HDF (fibreboard) core is charged GST at 18% under the rate schedule in force since 22 September 2025 (Notification 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), HSN 4411). Installation contracts are also typically taxed at 18%. A few older web pages still show 28% — that is out of date. Example: ₹120 per sq ft + 18% GST = ₹141.60 per sq ft. Confirm the rate on your invoice with your accountant; every Vantafloor product page shows the price both with and without GST.

What drives the price

  • AC class. AC3, AC4 and AC5 are abrasion classes under EN 13329; a higher class costs more and suits busier rooms. See AC ratings explained — and note that there is no AC6.
  • Thickness. 12 mm feels more solid and quieter than 8 mm, but thickness and AC class are separate things: compare both.
  • Edge treatment. Water-resistant laminates seal the edges and state a surface-water test in hours. No hours, no claim.
  • Brand and origin. Unbranded, Indian-brand and imported European planks sit in different bands.
  • Format. Herringbone costs more in material, cutting waste and labour.
  • Your room. Levelling, removing an old floor, skirting length, doorways and the floor level the boxes must be carried to all add cost.

How to compare laminate quotes

  1. Same product spec on every quote: thickness, AC class, plank size, attached underlay or not, and the water test in hours if water resistance is claimed.
  2. Prices on the same basis: excluding or including 18% GST, per sq ft of your floor or per sq ft supplied (with wastage).
  3. Material, labour, underlay, skirting and profiles as separate lines.
  4. Preparation spelled out: levelling, removal of the old floor, moisture barrier on ground-floor slabs.
  5. Delivery, unloading and carrying to your floor.
  6. Who installs, and the warranty terms in writing — years, exclusions and the claim process.

Where laminate makes sense

Laminate suits bedrooms, studies, living rooms and offices that stay dry. It can usually be floated over sound, flat existing tiles — see installing over existing tiles for the checks. Keep it out of bathrooms and heavily wet-mopped kitchens: for those rooms, read waterproof flooring for kitchens and bathrooms. Weighing laminate against SPC? Our own laminate prices

Each Vantafloor laminate product page shows our price per sq ft excluding and including GST where we publish one, and “Price on request” otherwise. A price marked “Indicative launch price” is still under review and is confirmed on your quote. Installation is always quoted as its own line. Before you decide, order free samples and look at them in daylight in your own room.
